The core idea: mornings protect, nights repair.
Morning: protect
During the day your skin deals with UV, pollution, wind, indoor heating or air conditioning, and makeup on top. So the morning goals are:
- protection from UV
- enough hydration to stay comfortable
- antioxidant support (optional)
A simple morning:
- Water rinse or gentle cleanser
- Hydrating toner (optional)
- Vitamin C or niacinamide serum (optional)
- Lightweight moisturizer
- Sunscreen, SPF 30+
Keep it light. Too many heavy layers make sunscreen pill or slide.
Night: treat and repair
At night there's no sun and no makeup going on top, so it's the time for:
- removing sunscreen and makeup properly
- stronger active ingredients
- richer textures
A simple night:
- Oil cleanser (if you wore sunscreen or makeup)
- Gentle cleanser
- Toner or essence (optional)
- Treatment serum
- Moisturizer or night cream

Two rules worth remembering
1. Night actives still need morning sunscreen. Retinoids and acids can make skin more sun-sensitive, and that doesn't wear off by breakfast.
2. Don't stack strong actives on the same night, especially when starting. Alternate them.
A sample week
Every morning: cleanser → vitamin C → gel moisturizer → sunscreen.
Mon / Wed / Fri night: oil cleanser → gentle cleanser → hydrating toner → niacinamide serum → moisturizer.
Tue / Thu night: oil cleanser → gentle cleanser → BHA → moisturizer.
Weekend nights: oil cleanser → gentle cleanser → soothing essence → rich cream or sleeping mask.
That's just an example. Adjust how often you use the active based on how your skin responds.
Do you need two different moisturizers?
No. One moisturizer for both is perfectly fine. Two can be nice if your skin is dry (richer at night) or oily (lighter in the morning so makeup stays put).
Quick mistakes to avoid
- Skipping sunscreen on cloudy or winter days.
- Using every active you own in one routine.
- Applying a heavy night cream in the morning, then wondering why sunscreen pills.
- Forgetting your neck and ears.
