About Glowarie

Hi, I'm Aran

I'm Korean, now living in Canada, and Glowarie is my small, independent blog about Korean skincare.

I started it because K-beauty is wonderful and confusing at the same time. There are thousands of products, a new "miracle" ingredient every season, and a lot of marketing that sounds more scientific than it is. A lot of the most useful information, like full ingredient lists and product details, is often easiest to find in Korean. Since Korean is my first language, I read those labels and sources directly, check them against published research, and try to explain it all in plain English.

What you'll find here

Living in Canada also means I pay attention to things most K-beauty sites skip, like how sunscreen is regulated here and what our long, dry winters do to skin.

A few promises

I won't pretend. I'm not a dermatologist, and I'll never post a "review" of a product I haven't used. If I write about personal experience, it'll be real.

Honesty over hype. If the evidence for an ingredient is thin, I'll say so.

Simple first. Most skin does best with gentle cleansing, a good moisturizer and daily sunscreen. Everything else is optional.

Independence and ads

Glowarie isn't owned by or paid by any skincare brand. The site may show ads (for example through Google AdSense) to help cover running costs. Ads never decide what I write. More in the Editorial Policy.

Not medical advice

Everything here is general information. For anything painful, spreading or not improving, please see a doctor. Full details in the Disclaimer.
